Uninstall

MicJot keeps everything in a few known places. Remove as much or as little as you like; nothing is stored anywhere else.

1. Quit and remove the app

  1. If “Open MicJot at login” is on, turn it off in Settings → General (or run /Applications/MicJot.app/Contents/MacOS/MicJot --unregister-login-item in Terminal; only the app itself can remove its login item).
  2. Quit MicJot from its menu-bar icon.
  3. Drag MicJot from Applications to the Trash.

2. Remove what it created

PathWhat it holds
~/Library/Application Support/MicJotSettings, history (the text of your dictations), dictionary, snippets, downloaded speech models, logs and crash reports
~/Library/Caches/com.micjot.MicJotThe model compiled for the Neural Engine (hundreds of MB); macOS rebuilds it if you reinstall
~/Library/Preferences/com.micjot.MicJot.plistWindow positions
~/Library/Saved Application State/com.micjot.MicJot.savedStateWindow state

Move them to the Trash, then run defaults delete com.micjot.MicJot in Terminal so the preferences cache forgets the plist too.

3. API keys

Customer builds store no API key; a QA build keeps the tester's own Anthropic key in secrets.json (removed with the support folder above), and builds before 0.4 kept keys in the Keychain, including cloud-transcription keys: open Keychain Access, search for com.micjot.MicJot, and delete the items named anthropic, openAI and groq that exist. Or in Terminal:

security delete-generic-password -s com.micjot.MicJot -a anthropic
security delete-generic-password -s com.micjot.MicJot -a openAI
security delete-generic-password -s com.micjot.MicJot -a groq

4. Permissions

macOS keeps the grants keyed to the app. Reset them so no stale “MicJot” row remains:

tccutil reset Accessibility com.micjot.MicJot
tccutil reset ListenEvent com.micjot.MicJot # Input Monitoring
tccutil reset Microphone com.micjot.MicJot

Or remove MicJot under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, Input Monitoring and Microphone with the − button. Empty the Trash to free the space.
