MicJot refund policy

Draft for legal review. Not yet in force. Subscriptions and MicJot AI are built into version 0.4.0 but not switched on in any build shipped so far (no account service is deployed); this page takes effect with the release that turns them on. Last updated: 2026-10-30.

The promise

14 days, no questions asked. If you ask within 14 days of your first purchase of Pro, or within 14 days of an annual renewal, we refund that payment in full. You do not need a reason, and it does not matter how much you used MicJot AI in those days.

How to ask

Open your account page ([website]/account → "Request a refund", one click) or email [support email] from the address on your account. Please do not open a dispute with your card issuer instead: a chargeback costs more than the refund, pauses your account, and takes weeks, while a refund request takes us one working day.

What happens next

  1. We cancel the subscription with immediate effect, so nothing further is charged, and MicJot returns to the Free plan on your Macs. If your account's free words are used up, dictation pauses until you subscribe again (or start the 7-day trial, if your account has not used it); your history, dictionary, snippets and settings stay on your Mac.
  2. We issue the refund through Paddle, our merchant of record. It goes back to the payment method you used. Paddle reviews most refunds before releasing them; the money usually appears on your statement within 5 to 10 business days [estimate], depending on your bank.
  3. You receive a confirmation email from us and a refund receipt from Paddle.

Monthly renewals

A monthly renewal is not separately refundable. Cancel at any time (Settings → Account → Manage billing, or your account page) and Pro stays active until the end of the month you have paid for; nothing is charged after that.

Annual renewals

We email you 7 days before an annual renewal. If it renews and you did not want it, the 14-day promise above applies to the renewal payment.

The free trial

The 7-day Pro trial, offered once when your account's free words are used, takes no payment method and never charges anything, so there is nothing to refund.

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or the UK, you also have a statutory right to withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days without giving a reason (EU Consumer Rights Directive; UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, regulation 30). Paddle's buyer terms describe this right in their section 15. The law allows a seller to end that right once a digital service has started with your consent; we do not use that exception, and our promise above applies whether or not you used MicJot AI. Nothing on this page limits rights the law gives you.

Who charges you

Payments are taken by Paddle as merchant of record: your receipt and invoice come from Paddle, Paddle adds and remits any sales tax or VAT, and refunds are paid out by Paddle. MicJot never sees your card number.
