Diagnostics and support

One zip, written to your Downloads folder, that you decide whether to send. It never contains what you said.

Save Diagnostics…

Choose Save Diagnostics… from the app menu, the status-bar menu, the About window or Settings → General. MicJot writes MicJot-Diagnostics-<timestamp>.zip to ~/Downloads and shows it. Nothing is uploaded; attach it to your email to [email protected] if you want help.

What the zip contains

  • The event log of the last 7 days: timings, states, counts, error messages and the names of the apps you dictated into, one file per day.
  • Crash and hang reports macOS recorded for MicJot (MetricKit) and recent macOS crash reports for the app.
  • A settings summary: which options are on, the speech model's state, which microphone is selected, the dictation key.

What it never contains

  • What you said or typed: the log redacts every interpolated string unless the call site marks it public, and no dictation text, selection or clipboard content is ever written to it.
  • Your API keys, your history, your dictionary or your snippets.
  • Your home folder path or provider error texts.

Where the files live

WhatWhere
Event log~/Library/Application Support/MicJot/Logs/MicJot-<date>.log, 7 days kept, 5 MB per file

Version and build

The About window shows the version and build number; MicJot.app/Contents/MacOS/MicJot --version prints the same from Terminal. Include it when you write.
